 LIST OF ISSUES

EDUCATION

Homeschooling parents pay taxes like everyone else, so their children should be able to "try-out" for public school sports teams. They are being denied that opportunity by school boards, in the state legislature, in the attorney general's office, and in the governor's mansion.  We support parental rights to home school!

HOUSING

I am strongly opposed to density packing.  Loudoun County is notorious for being the fastest growing county in the nation.  In fact, some estimates show population growth at nearly five times the national average.  While some growth is beneficial, uncontrolled growth like we have been experiencing can actually have a negative effect on the quality of life for Sterling and Loudoun County residents.

Some unforeseen consequences include increased traffic, extremely long commutes, and lack of supporting infrastructure.  As supervisor, I will ensure that Loudoun grows at a pace that is both manageable and beneficial to the residents of Sterling.

FIRST & SECOND AMENDMENTS

I am a firm believer in protecting our Constitutional rights. I vow to oppose attempts to stifle our freedom when it comes to limiting citizens' right to arm and defend themselves. Furthermore I will fight against any attempt to deny the people their right to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly.

Our nation is built on a tradition of these freedoms.

In Virginia an effort is underway to adopt red flag laws. A red flag law is a gun violence prevention law that permits police or family members to petition a state court to order the temporary removal of firearms from a person who may present a danger to others or themselves.

Although the intention of red flag laws are noble, they deny American citizens their due process rights in a court of law. We should be able to find effective solutions to violence without violating constitutional rights.

TAXES

As a student of economics I am highly opposed to burdensome taxation. Like Nobel prize winning economist Milton Friedman said "No one spends someone else's money as wisely or carefully as they spend their own."

As a supervisor I want to put more money back in to the pockets of Sterling residents. We don't have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. I pledge to oppose any bills that will require an increase in taxes for Sterling Virginia.
